There are *good* people out there! Yes -gasp!- in the "world"!!

it is still a wonderful discovery and pleasant surprise to continually keep finding that there are some awesomely *good* people out there in the "world"!.

it's such a neat thing, this (slow, yet very rewarding!

) process of making new, non-jw friends.... i recently had my first meal at the home of one of these new wonderful people we've just met and i just must share this!

i can't believe how horrid this experience was.

first, the thought of going into a kh again filled me with total anxiety and even nausea.. .

second, couldn't believe how much time it took to get ready to get there.

Wouldn't it be cool if the pope did an expose thing like Ray Franz did?!

wouldn't it be cool if the pope did an expose thing about the catholic church and all the heirarchies/inside secrets, etc., like ray franz did when he exposed the inner workings at the highest level of the jw religion?

"do not put your trust in nobles, nor in the son of earthing man, to whom no salvation belongs.

(psalms 146:4-6 or something like that).

agh, i can't find a post... somebody asked a question looking for various quotes where the wts equated following their words to following god's words.. there was an excellent discussion with lots of wt articles quoted... including a scan of a 1942 or 1943 wt article.

i now can't imagine anything more boring and stilted and stupifying than the way the wts instructs people to train and teach their children.. .

we're to sit at a table with one of their horrid, boring, dry, frightening publications.

read a paragraph, look up a scripture or scripture snippet, then ask the question.. .

Am only now discovering/reading the Apocrypha

i was never a born-in jw, got baptized when i was 20 after being raised and belonging to a denomination of a protestant church.

so i never even knew that there was a "catholic" bible or extra bible books (the authenticity of their belonging in the canon or not is a debatable issue, and one i certainly have no answers about it!).

i knew through my study with jws that there were some "extra" books written, but since i believed everything the wt said hook, line, and sinker, i just went along with their explanation that they were not part of the bible canon.
